Job title: Staff Engineer, Hardware Application Engineering — Lab Operations
About the Role As Staff Engineer for Lab Operations within Marvell's Customer Solutions Group (CSG), you will own end-to-end responsibility for the Santa Clara hardware lab—the operational backbone that enables our hardware engineers and customer engagements. This senior individual contributor role ensures a disciplined, reliable, best-in-class lab environment to support ongoing platform validation, demos, and field collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Own lab infrastructure, equipment lifecycle, vendor relationships, setup integrity, inventory, RMA readiness, budget execution, and global remote-lab enablement for Marvell's CSG and engineering teams.
- Manage end-to-end lab setups: assembly, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and lifecycle management.
- Drive lab organization, layout, signage, and accessibility so engineers and visiting customers can quickly locate equipment.
- Lead lab renovation and expansion projects: scoping, planning, vendor coordination, and execution.
- Partner with facilities and physical security on power, cooling, cabling, room build-outs, access controls, and visitor protocols.
- Own equipment inventory: tagging, asset tracking, location management, utilization, and end-of-life planning; maintain spares and consumables.
- Maintain dedicated RMA test setups to examine field-returned chips; ensure readiness for incoming units and re-test coverage.
- Build and maintain relationships with test equipment vendors, evaluators, and service providers; evaluate quotes and ROI.
- Track spend against the annual budget; advise leadership on equipment needs and refresh cycles.
- Enable global remote access so worldwide CSG members can reliably access Santa Clara labs; coordinate cross-site resource utilization.
- Plan and execute logistics for customer demos and industry tradeshows, ensuring working setups and smooth on-site execution.
- Partner with hardware design, SI/PI, silicon, software, and operations teams to anticipate lab needs as new platforms ramp; coordinate with facilities and security on space and access policies.
- Serve as the operational backbone enabling the rest of the CSG team to deliver their best technical work.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of relevant experience; proven track record in lab operations and cross-functional collaboration.
