Job title: Staff Cloud Engineer
About the Role The Staff Cloud Engineer will evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies for a robust and scalable cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. You will design and implement solutions across the technology stack supporting both internal and customer-facing applications, and you’ll function as the Team Lead for other Cloud Engineers.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to solve complex challenges for bioinformatics and business systems in Azure
- Oversee end-to-end implementation of solution deployments in Azure
- Mentor and function as technical lead to other Cloud Engineers; collaborate with software developers, scientists, QA, and Release Management
- Document all systems and designs for future supportability
- Ensure security and regulatory compliance (HIPAA/FDA where applicable) across deployments
- Translate business and science requirements into IT solutions
- Maintain production systems and stay up-to-date with evolving cloud technologies
- Provide technical advice and support to software engineers and staff
What We're Looking For
- 12+ years designing highly-available 24x7 production systems
- Strong Linux, networking, storage, and information security expertise
- Database administration experience (PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
- Docker and Kubernetes experience
- Azure or AWS experience
- Experience with Apache, JBoss, Play Framework
- Proficiency in automation with Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
- Experience with healthcare use cases and regulatory considerations (HIPAA, FDA)
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills
- Ability to translate science and business requirements into IT solutions
- Experience with DevOps in a cloud context
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $148,000 - $222,000 per year
- Possible equity grant
- Bonus eligible
