About the Role New Hampshire Public Defender seeks experienced trial attorneys to join its Staff Attorney (Lateral) team to provide high-quality, client-centered criminal defense for indigent clients in New Hampshire. Staff attorneys practice at the trial level in the NH courts and participate in the program's vertical representation from appointment through final disposition. Note: staff attorneys do not handle appeals to the New Hampshire Supreme Court. What You'll Do
- Represent indigent clients at trial in criminal matters in New Hampshire, from appointment to final disposition.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (investigators, paralegals, social service advocates, etc.) to prepare case strategy and support clients throughout proceedings.
- Collaborate with staff attorneys and other program staff to ensure high-quality representation and adherence to constitutional obligations. What We're Looking For
- Admitted to the New Hampshire Bar or eligible for immediate admission by the New Hampshire Bar.
- Commitment to criminal defense and practical experience that demonstrates a high level of skill.
