Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting and tax activities for a Contract position based in Charlotte, North Carolina. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is comfortable working across general ledger processes, journal entry preparation, and corporate tax support while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment. The role will contribute to financial integrity by helping manage reporting needs, tax-related tasks, and day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries to ensure financial transactions are accurately reflected in the accounting records.

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, researching discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.

• Support corporate tax activities, including the preparation of documentation related to tax filings and compliance requirements.

• Assist with sales tax processes by gathering data, reviewing transactions, and helping ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Contribute to the preparation of corporate tax return support schedules and related financial information.

• Partner with internal teams to collect accounting data, validate entries, and improve reporting accuracy.

• Help organize financial records and supporting documentation for audits, tax reviews, and internal reporting needs.

• Experience in staff accounting with hands-on responsibility for general ledger activity and journal entries.

• Working knowledge of corporate tax principles and exposure to tax-related accounting support.

• Familiarity with sales tax processing, reporting, or reconciliations.

• Ability to assist with corporate tax return preparation through accurate financial documentation and analysis.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.

• Proficiency in standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for reconciliations and reporting.
