Staff Accountant

A specialized manufacturing and project-based organization in Fairfield, NJ is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. The Staff Accountant will handle full-cycle accounting, month-end reporting, general ledger activity, job reconciliations, audit support, and accounting tied to large, multi-year projects. The ideal candidate will bring prior construction or project accounting experience, including exposure to WIP, percentage-of-completion and job costing, along with experience using Sage. Manufacturing or cost accounting experience is a plus. The role offers direct interaction with senior leadership and is a strong fit for either an earlier-career accountant or an experienced hands-on Senior Accountant who enjoys owning the work without needing a management title.

• At least 2-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a manufacturing, warehouse, or project-based business environment.
• Working knowledge of core accounting practices, including journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
• Experience with cost accounting, manufacturing cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, and project accounting is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, along with the ability to enter and manage transaction data accurately in accounting systems.
• Hands-on experience with Sage 100, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to different audiences.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
• High school diploma required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
