Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a team in Newport Beach, California on a Contract to permanent basis. This role is well suited for an early-career accounting team member who enjoys owning core close activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations. The position offers the opportunity to contribute across general ledger work, reconciliations, and accounting data management while partnering with a collaborative team in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly close process by preparing entries, organizing supporting documentation, and helping ensure deadlines are met.

• Record journal entries accurately within the general ledger and verify that transactions are properly classified.

• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable cash records.

• Enter and maintain accounting information in Yardi Voyager 8 with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.

• Provide limited accounts payable support as business needs evolve, including assisting with invoice-related tasks when needed.

• Help maintain clean and organized financial data to support reporting, audits, and routine accounting operations.

• Work closely with team members to address changing priorities and contribute effectively during periods of operational change.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.

• 1-4 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role is strongly preferred.

• Hands-on experience with journal entries, month-end close activities, and bank reconciliations is required.

• Working knowledge of general ledger processes and financial recordkeeping.

• Ability to perform detailed data entry with a high level of accuracy.

• Experience with Yardi Voyager or similar accounting software is a plus.

• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support is beneficial.

• Strong collaboration skills, adaptability, and a team-oriented approach.
