Job title: SSHO/QC Manager
About the Role Cape Fox Mountain Point is seeking a Site Safety (SSHO) Manager who can support the project as a Quality Control (QC) Manager. The SSHO/QC Manager will develop and implement the quality/safety program, QC/Safety plans, enforcing policies, assessing risk, and ensuring compliance with legal guidelines for the Mountain Point construction program. Work will be performed primarily in the Savannah, GA area and within the Southern United States (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida).
The SSHO/QC Manager will oversee the site Accident Prevention Plan, support the QC program, and help embed core safety and quality policies within the company. The role requires leadership of the department, maintenance of quality/safety records, and collaboration with project managers, site superintendents, and subcontractors.
What You'll Do
- Develop and direct the project-specific Contractor Quality Control Plan (QCP) and Accident Prevention Plan (APP); administer the plans and perform inspections of work.
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to OSHA guidelines and EM385-1-1.
- Remain on site at all times to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and the Government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan.
- Conduct daily safety and health inspections; maintain a written log with area inspected, hazards, recommended corrective actions, and corrective timelines; attach inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.
- Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports; report mishaps and near misses.
- Use and maintain OSHA Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses for Prime Contractors and subcontractors; make available to the Contracting Officer on request; post Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board.
- Maintain safety reference materials on the job site.
- Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
- Review APP and AHAs for EM385-1-1 compliance; approve, sign, implement and enforce them.
- Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System and monitor outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
- Ensure subcontractor safety and health compliance.
- Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their SDS.
- Maintain a weekly list of high-hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined spaces, and elevation; be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings.
- Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and EM385-1-1; experience developing and executing safety plans.
- Experience as SSHO/QC Manager and ability to oversee subcontractor safety personnel and quality specialists.
- Proven ability to maintain company safety and training records for internal compliance.
- Willingness and ability to be on site full-time and travel as required; experience working on U.S. Government contracts at military installations is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work with minimal supervision, work well under pressure, and maintain a professional demeanor with co-workers and the public.
- Collaborative mindset to partner with Safety Manager, project managers, site superintendents, operators, and other stakeholders.
