About the Role The Sr. Technical Manager for APAC leads Lubrizol's APAC technology organization supporting the Engineered Polymers and Medical Solutions businesses. The role is responsible for driving innovation, accelerating commercialization, managing budgets, stage-gate processes, Intellectual Property, and achieving innovation project portfolio targets, while aligning technical work with business strategy. What You'll Do

  • Own and evolve APAC technology roadmap aligned with global strategy.
  • Lead and drive innovations for the region and coordinate globally with technology and business leaders to drive growth and profitability.
  • Actively engage with customers for specification and technical service activities to drive growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, commercial, and marketing, to understand market needs and translate them into viable customer solutions.
  • Develop new emerging applications from concept to launch in alignment with business strategy.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Process Technology, Product Management, and Procurement to optimize raw material strategy and implementation to drive efficiency, profitability, and growth.
  • Develop and foster close coordination with customer technical teams to understand market trends and corresponding customer expectations to drive specification and new product development.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient laboratory operations within the regional R&D facility; lead and develop a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to ensure effective execution of research projects, lab operation, and testing processes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement; drive accountability, prioritization, collaboration, strategic alignment, agility, and urgency for delivering financial results.
  • Keep up to date on key market and macro trends, leverage emerging technologies to create a best-in-class technology organization.
  • Partner with product stewardship and HSE to assess product risks, safety data, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure laboratories are safe and compliant with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. What We're Looking For
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer/Material Science or Engineering (chemical or polymer) or M.S. in Chemistry, Polymer/Material Science or Engineering (chemical or polymer) with significant industry experience.
  • 5+ years of prior experience leading specialty chemicals technology teams.
  • 10+ years in TPU or similar/translatable materials.
  • Proven track record of impactful business results from product innovation and manufacturing optimization.
  • Experience working in matrixed organization structures to achieve results through influence, teamwork, agility, and inclusive collaboration.
  • Experience building and growing a high-performance technical team with training and mentoring to develop top talent and succession pipelines.
  • Requires international and domestic travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Preferred location based in SongJiang, China.
