About the Role Stratolaunch is seeking a full-time Sr-, Staff-, or Principal-level Software Engineer to lead the development and testing of flight software for an autonomous hypersonic test vehicle. You will work under the Vehicle Management System (VMS) lead and guide multiple phases of the software lifecycle, integrating VMS application code and developing subsystem management code for flight testing. What You'll Do
- Develop and test new flight software in support of hypersonic air-launch vehicle systems
- Contribute to and oversee the integration of complex aerospace systems
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop software requirements and solutions
- Support flight software architecture development including concept and implementation
- Perform design and/or analysis to support component development
- Contribute to hardware integration with the development of interface documents
- Develop software components to interface with and control sensors and effectors
- Develop and oversee software test processes in support of software verification and validation
- Support various lab/bench hardware tests with custom software
- Provide technical guidance for projects within the larger program
- Travel, as needed, to support the department What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential responsibilities
- Experience with real-time embedded software development
- Experience with serial communications, software test, and computer networking
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasking, and coordinate with VMS lead to accomplish VMS goals
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Proficiency in C++ programming
- Preferred: Flight computer and/or vehicle management computer software development, test, and integration
- Agile software development methodologies experience
- Experience with VxWorks operating systems
- Experience with 1553 communication
- TS/SCI security clearance (preferred)
- Familiarity with configuration management systems – Jira, Bitbucket, or Git
- Matlab/Simulink and/or Python
- Education & Experience: Sr-level 5-10 years with B.S., Staff-level 10-20 years, Principal-level 20+ years Nice to Have
- Flight computer and/or vehicle management computer software development, test, and integration
- Matlab/Simulink and/or Python proficiency
- Jira, Bitbucket, Git familiarity
- VxWorks experience
- 1553 bus experience

- Base salary: $120,500–$237,300 per year (USD)
