About the Role Sr. Solutions Engineer - Public Sector at Databricks leads the growth of the Databricks Unified Analytics Platform within the DoW - 4th Estate. This is a customer-facing role that partners with sales, product, and post-sales teams to identify use cases, develop architectures and guide implementations to deliver value. You will report to the Sr. Field Engineering Manager and travel to customers in your region.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with the sales team to help customers understand how Databricks can help solve their business problems
  • Provide technical leadership for customers to evaluate and adopt Databricks
  • Consult on big data architecture, implement proof of concepts for strategic customer projects, data science and machine learning projects, and validate integrations with cloud services and other 3rd party applications
  • Build and present references architectures, how-tos, and demo applications for customers
  • Become an expert in Databricks inspired open-source projects (Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and Koalas) across developer communities through meetups, conferences, and webinars
  • Travel to customers in your region

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role
  • Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems
  • Comfortable programming in at least one of Python, Scala, Java, SQL, or R
  • Experience supporting Public Sector clients
  • Built solutions with public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Expertise in at least one of the following: Data Engineering technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka); Data Warehousing (SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS); Data Science and Machine Learning technologies (pandas, scikit-learn, HPO)
  • Secret security clearance or willingness to obtain one

Nice to Have

  • Degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Local Pay Range $152,300—$209,450 USD. The total compensation package may include annual performance bonus, equity, and listed benefits. Pay ranges vary by location. For more information, visit the location page.
