About the Role Travelers is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Technology organization as we transform our landscape. The role involves designing, developing, and delivering end-to-end software across multiple applications, mentoring teammates, and providing technical leadership across systems. What You'll Do
- Perform complex analysis and advanced design, configuration, and development for impactful and high-visibility tasks.
- Lead on directing and implementing solutions to moderately complex, loosely scoped problems aligned with team goals; deliver independently and by leading others.
- Lead investigation and resolution efforts for critical, high impact problems, defects, and incidents.
- Act as a technology advocate, independently seeking opportunities where technology can be used to improve the business.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship while fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Apply knowledge of current industry trends to formulate solutions within the context of assigned efforts.
- Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities; perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Five years of programming/development experience.
- Proven experience in leading and managing software engineering teams, with a focus on fostering collaboration and achieving project goals.
- Experience with coding assistants (e.g., Claude and GitHub Copilot).
- Demonstrated experience with cloud computing (AWS Serverless/EKS and/or Azure).
- Proficiency with API development (REST and/or GraphQL).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK).
- Working knowledge of frameworks/libraries (React.js and/or Node.js).
- Proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.
- Understanding of eventing systems (Kafka).
- Experience with relational databases (DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and document databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB).
- Experience with automated testing and unit testing (NUnit/XUnit, Moq, Jest, Cypress).
- Proficiency with source control (Git/GitHub).
- CI/CD experience (CloudBees Jenkins, Jenkins Open Source, and/or Azure DevOps).
- Understanding of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
- Experience with observability/monitoring platforms (Dynatrace, ELK stack, OpenTelemetry).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (Jira and Rally).
- Delivery-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and communication skills. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: USD 139,400.00 – 230,000.00 per year.
