Sr Software Engineer

Location: Hampton, Virginia (Partial Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Sr Software Engineer to join a software development team. The ideal candidate will serve as a member of the Engineering and Sustainment software development team, providing technical and design expertise. This role involves innovating and creating government software and programs, requiring a proactive approach to problem-solving and a detailed understanding of software development configuration management.

Key Responsibilities

• Work alongside a team of programmers and system engineers to facilitate the proper design and implementation of software.

• Create and maintain GitLab Pipelines.

• Manage source code using git and git tools.

• Manage weekly deployments to the Production environment.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot operational problems.

• Work independently and represent the program at meetings and working groups with government and associate contractors.

• Required Qualifications

Experience

• Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; or Masters and three (3) years or more experience.

• Full-stack development experience with Java.

• Experience managing multiple environments including Production, Staging, User Acceptance, and Integration.

• Experience using NPM to configure Javascript-based applications and manage dependencies.

• Experience using Gradle/Maven to configure Java-based REST services and manage dependencies.

• Experience managing containerized environments with Docker and/or Kubernetes.

• Unix/Shell scripting.

• Experience with Visual Studio Code/JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA or similar IDEs.

• Experience building REST services.

• Experience with Object-Relational Mapping tools (Hibernate preferred).

• Experience with Frontend Javascript frameworks (Angular preferred).

• HTML/CSS experience.

• Experience with backend testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito; frontend testing frameworks such as Jasmine and Karma.

• Database schema design and implementation experience (MySQL preferred).

• Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Nexus Repository Manager.

• Experience with static security code analysis using Sonarqube/Fortify/Sbom.

• Experience managing Kubernetes deployments through Argo CD.

• Experience with AWS S3.

• Experience with Spring Boot.

• Experience with integration testing using Cypress.

• Experience with OAuth.

• Experience with Frontend Dependency management with NPM.

• Work Environment

• This position requires four days on-site with flexibility for one remote day per week.
