Job title: Sr Regulatory Engineer
About the Role As a Sr. Regulatory Engineer for Milwaukee Tool, you will be based at our Brookfield, WI headquarters and help define regulatory requirements as part of a cross-functional design team. You will coordinate regulatory testing and evaluation to ensure Milwaukee products comply with US, Canadian, and international safety standards, with a strong emphasis on product safety and risk mitigation.
What You'll Do
- Advise Project Leaders, Product Managers, Design Engineers, and Reliability Engineers regarding regulatory requirements including tests and design elements necessary to comply with external regulations.
- Guide teams in Regulatory matters concerning EMC, Efficiency, and Hazardous Substances Free.
- Liaise with Certification Bodies and Test Labs to obtain all necessary Certificates and Test Reports for worldwide product launches.
- Supervise all aspects of product certification: preparation of test samples, execution of the test, test reporting and data analysis, and certification submittal.
- Stay conversant with latest industry safety standards (UL, CSA, IEC) and regulations (UN, IATA, FCC, CP65, RoHS, ErP, DOE, CEC), and OSHA specifications.
- Evaluate information and render opinions related to compliance and safety of a concept, design, or product.
- Conduct and lead design and construction reviews with focus on regulatory compliance and product safety risk mitigation.
- Review test results and determine acceptability.
- Work with laboratory technicians to identify and design necessary test fixtures, troubleshoot test parameters and outcomes, and resolve technical issues.
- Communicate with product teams regarding product regulatory and safety matters.
- Review and provide feedback for operator manuals and on-product markings.
- Establish and define best practices for fellow team members. Create tools to increase team efficiency.
- Mentor and coach junior regulatory engineers and cross-functional team members.
- Manage and prioritize multiple regulatory projects to align with product launch timelines and business objectives.
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or technical equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience handling regulatory and product safety activities, preferably with Outdoor Power Equipment, power tools, Lithium-ion batteries, and/or consumer products.
- Strong understanding of safety standards affecting Milwaukee Outdoor Power Equipment, Power Tools or Chargers.
- Familiar with Hazard Based Analysis techniques.
- Understanding of general laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.
- Familiar with OSHA General Industry and Construction regulations.
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills; excellent professional communication.
- Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and attention to detail.
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as necessary.
- High interest in Outdoor Power Equipment and tools of the trade.
