Sr Project Engineer --MBD

About the Role Sr Project Engineer - MBD is an integral part of the Software Engineering organization. You will be responsible for the Model-Based Design software platform for next-generation product and system, and for developing a HIL test system based on Speedgoat to improve software qualification efficiency and test coverage. What You'll Do

• Design and develop power electronic software and specifications for motor controls for power tools and outdoor products.
• Conduct motor control MIL simulations and tests in MATLAB, including various motor control algorithms and lithium-ion battery systems.
• Generate application-level embedded code from Model-Based Design; support MATLAB unit testing and coverage testing.
• Expedite motor control development by using Speedgoat as a powerful prototype (RCP) of the controller.
• Lead HIL test system development based on Speedgoat; collaborate with Motor & Hardware engineers to set up a digital power HIL twin of Motor/PowerStage/Load running in Speedgoat; test and verify embedded controller software with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Build verification and validation environments (HIL, SIL, MIL) to meet Model-Based Design test goals.
• Implement and validate electronic designs through test and MATLAB simulation work; develop software verification and validation procedures that include unit and integration testing.
• Help leadership in achieving cost, performance and quality objectives of all related electronic systems, components, and sub-assemblies.
• Develop solutions for electronic system related issues as a member of a project team.
• Ensure that appropriate documentation is maintained for work performed.
• Translate customer requirements into software specifications.
• Analyze and reach sound decisions in complex technical situations.
• Embrace cross-functional teamwork. What We're Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering from an accredited college; Master’s degree is nice to have.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded firmware research/product development.
• Experience with MBD (Model-Based Design), MIL (Model-in-the-Loop), PIL, SIL and test automation.
• Proficiency in C/C++, embedded software development and code generation; BSP/HAL experience.
• Strong motor control knowledge (FOC and trapezoidal); sensorless and sensored control familiarity.
• Experience with closed-loop control for BLDC/PMSM motors and both AC and DC motors.
• Familiarity with software development processes (static analysis, version control, unit testing, bug tracking).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle 2-3 concurrent projects.
• Proficient in English, written and spoken. Nice to Have
• Master’s degree is nice to have; additional Speedgoat/MATLAB/Simulink experience is a plus.
