About the Role Abbott is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join its Cardiac Rhythm Technologies team in Sylmar, CA. In this role you will design and develop innovative medical devices or components/subsystems in support of the company's strategic plan, focusing on meeting user needs and advancing treatments for heart rhythm disorders.
What You'll Do
- Design medical devices to meet user needs.
- Establish requirements and specifications for these devices (including justification and supportive testing).
- Use experimental, empirical and numerical analysis to evaluate designs.
- Lead test method and model development.
- Create and own mechanical design drawings and models.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Work with internal departments and external vendors to obtain prototype parts.
What We're Looking For
- Experience designing and developing medical devices or components/subsystems in a regulated environment.
- Ability to establish design requirements and specifications, with justification and testing.
- Proficiency in experimental, empirical and numerical analysis to evaluate designs.
- Experience leading test method and model development.
- Ability to create and own mechanical drawings and CAD models.
- Strong risk identification and mitigation skills.
- Experience collaborating with internal departments and external vendors to obtain prototype parts.
