Job title: Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer
About the Role As a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer, you will drive the ongoing success of high-volume consumer electronics after mass production launches. You will lead mechanical optimization, cost reduction, derivative product development, and issue resolution across the product lifecycle. The role requires ownership, collaboration, and the ability to improve quality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness using rigorous engineering methods.
What You'll Do
- Cost Optimization: Analyze, optimize, and implement improvements to mechanical costs in mass production, actively championing cost reduction projects.
- Product Quality Issue Support: Address and resolve product quality issues in manufacturing, utilizing scientific approaches to continually improve design for manufacturing, performance, quality, and cost.
- Problem Analysis & Verification: Use advanced analysis tools to assess, document, and test mechanical parts and assemblies, identifying critical areas for improvement.
- Derivative Product Development & Compliance Label Management: Lead or support the development of derivative products; design and update compliance labels as required.
- Supplier Management & Selection: Participate in supplier design reviews, support alternative supplier development and qualification, and update mechanical specifications as needed.
- New Material Introduction and Process Validation: Promote and validate the adoption of sustainable/low-carbon materials in production. Participate in the validation and functional testing of new materials, switches, and other mechanical innovations.
- Manufacturing Support & Optimization: Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to refine mechanical designs for volume production requirements.
- Global Collaboration & Project Support: Work closely with global cross-functional teams to support supply chain transfers.

- Experience leading or supporting derivative product development and compliance labeling.
- Experience with supplier design reviews and qualification of alternative suppliers.
- Knowledge of sustainable/low-carbon materials and material validation.
- Manufacturing/support and process optimization experience.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and project-management skills.
