About this role

Sr. Manager, Omnichannel Strategy & Digital Transformation

Within Global Public Affairs, the Omnichannel Strategy & Digital Transformation team owns how Gilead's reputation, innovation, and access narratives reach audiences across every channel we operate — social, paid digital, out-of-home, CRM, and the enterprise properties that support them.

The Sr. Manager, Omnichannel Corporate Engagement owns audience engagement for the Gilead public affairs across all channels. This is the person accountable for how the corporate brands show up day to day: what runs, where it runs, and how it performs.

The successful candidate writes briefs that produce good work, can tell strong agency output from adequate, produces light social assets from established brand templates, and can interpret channel performance reports to optimize outcomes.

Expertise in social media is core to this role, but media literacy beyond social is required. This role does not plan or buy media — it briefs into it, quality-controls what runs, and interprets what comes back. That requires working fluency across the paid digital channels and the corporate portfolios.

This role reports to the Sr. Director, Omnichannel Engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Corporate channel ownership

  • Own the corporate engagement plan for Gilead — content approach, publishing cadence, and channel mix — under the editorial standard set by the Sr. Director.

  • Manage the corporate content calendar across owned social and engagement channels, balancing planned narrative moments against real-time opportunity.

  • Translate corporate narrative and Public Affairs priorities into channel-appropriate execution, working with the internal communications, policy, and functional teams who originate the material.

  • Serve as the internal subject-matter expert and day-to-day point of contact for corporate engagement across the Public Affairs function.

  • Agency direction and creative standard

  • Write creative briefs that produce usable work, and hold the quality bar on what comes back.

  • Direct agency partners across creative production and social content, managing scope, timelines, revisions, and delivery against the standard.

  • Produce light social assets in-house using established brand templates where speed or volume makes agency routing impractical.

  • Paid media support and channel literacy

  • Brief creative into paid campaigns for the corporate portfolios, coordinating execution with the media discipline owner and agency partners.

  • Quality-control creative and placements before they run, including brand safety, adjacency, and format compliance.

  • Interpret cross-channel performance and feed insight back into the next flight.

  • Work within the media standards, audience targeting approach, and budget allocation set by the media discipline owner. Direct the work; do not own the buy.

Working fluency is expected in the channels the corporate portfolios rely on most:

  • Paid social: Meta, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit — objectives, placements, and creative specs.

  • Paid search: Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising — brand-term and keyword campaigns, and how paid interacts with organic and AI-generated search results.

  • Programmatic display, native, and video: how inventory is bought through a DSP, the difference between open exchange and private marketplace deals, and what viewability and brand-safety controls do.

  • Measurement vocabulary: impressions, reach and frequency, CPM, CTR, video completion rate, viewability, share of voice, and sentiment — enough to read an agency report critically and ask the right questions of it.

  • Social listening

  • Manage the social listening program day to day — directing the monitoring agency, maintaining the queries and competitor set, and running the reporting cadence.

  • Translate listening insight into content opportunity and competitive context for the corporate portfolios.

  • Surface emerging reputational risks promptly on the established escalation path to Public Affairs leadership and Corporate Communications.

  • Measurement and reporting

  • Own corporate channel performance — engagement, reach, share of voice, sentiment, completion — and report against the enterprise measurement framework.

  • Use performance data to adjust content mix, cadence, and creative approach.

  • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years' Experience

  • OR

  • Masters' Degree and Six Years' Experience

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years in corporate social, digital communications, or content and channel management, ideally within regulated, reputation-sensitive, or enterprise environments.

  • Demonstrated ownership of a corporate or brand channel end to end — plan, calendar, execution, and performance — not solely campaign support.

  • Working knowledge of paid media mechanics beyond social, sufficient to brief, quality-control, and interpret agency-led campaigns across the channels listed above. Hands-on buying experience is not required; the ability to hold an agency to account is.

  • Strong editorial and creative judgment, with the ability to set and hold a standard on agency output.

  • Background in public affairs, corporate communications, or reputation management, either in-house or agency-side.

  • Practical production capability with brand templates and platform-native formats; working fluency in Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent for light asset creation.

  • Experience with enterprise social publishing and listening platforms (e.g. Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Brandwatch, Talkwalker), and the judgment to distinguish noise from an emerging issue.

  • Comfort with web and campaign analytics (e.g. GA4, platform-native reporting) and the measurement vocabulary above.

  • Proven comfort operating inside Legal, Medical, and Regulatory review and governance workflows, with content that consistently clears compliance.

  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder-management skills in a matrixed, cross-functional organization, including comfort advising senior leaders.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or another regulated industry.

  • Familiarity with policy, health-trade, or advocacy media environments.

  • Experience supporting a global or highly matrixed corporate environment.

  • The salary range for this position is: $146,540.00 - $189,640.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
