About the Role Shell is seeking a Sr. Functional Analyst - Tax to plan, control, and execute SAP and tax initiatives across programs and projects, delivering value through functional design and solution delivery. You will coordinate multiple interconnected initiatives to realize benefits beyond individual projects.
What You'll Do
- Drive global SAP FI and Indirect Tax solutions from a functional design perspective, including S/4HANA Tax interfaces and Global Next & Enterprise Cloud Determination.
- Conduct design lead sessions, coordinate with SMEs, and partner with Project Managers for solution design and effort estimation.
- Develop and supervise functional specifications from a technical design perspective; design and oversee development of reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms; perform prototyping to support requirements definition and design validation.
- Manage stakeholder collaboration with Process Experts, SMEs, and Product Managers to translate requirements into functional solutions; coordinate with Change Management and Release Management teams via Azure DevOps.
- Oversee batch job scheduling, period-end activities, and cross-scrum coordination across Direct and Indirect Tax teams.
- Ensure quality through QA activities, unit/integration testing, UAT support, defect resolution, and preparation of cutover/run books for operational readiness.
- Support production issues with Support teams and prepare audit/compliance reporting requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Core Expertise: 10+ years of SAP / S4 end-to-end implementation experience; 5+ years ECC to S/4HANA transformation; 5+ years Global Next & OITD Private Cloud / Enterprise Cloud projects; strong functional knowledge of Indirect Tax and global tax regimes.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in Global Next and OneSource Asset Integrity projects; SAP Tax Compliance for automated audits and risk detection using ML; SAP DRC, HANA reporting, E-Invoicing & E-Reporting middleware systems; experience with AI tools; ability to debug issues and identify root causes (preferred techno-functional profile); familiarity with cross integration modules like OTC, PGS, HM and FI.
- Functional & Leadership Skills: Gravitas and excellent communication to engage senior finance stakeholders; strong collaboration with process owners and finance leadership; active participation in high-performing IT teams focused on business value delivery.
- Agile & Tools: Solid understanding of Agile frameworks, Azure DevOps, and Power Platform Apps; experience planning and leading Agile initiatives and educating stakeholders.
- Integration & Compliance: Experience with ERP-to-ERP interfaces and third-party application integration with S4; skilled in tax audits, regulatory compliance, and discrepancy resolution; ability to optimize tax liabilities through effective planning and structuring.
- Nice to Have: Preferred techno-functional profile; ability to debug issues and perform root-cause analysis across cross-functional teams.
