Job title: Sr Embedded Software Engineer
About the Role The Sr Embedded Software Engineer leads design, development, and validation of software for embedded systems, ensuring compliance with FDA requirements. They contribute to software design, coding, and validation while guiding junior engineers within FDA-compliant Design Control procedures.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement software in current programming languages (e.g. C, C++, C#, Python).
- Develop, maintain, and update design and interface specifications from requirement specs.
- Participate in and support implementation, enhancements, and modifications to software source code, scripts, and procedures.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and isolate software problems; provide strategic solutions and guidance for future development.
- Assist in evaluation of designs through testing and documentation of results.
- Work on moderate-scale problems requiring evaluation of factors and exercise judgment within defined procedures.
- Participate in software development, verification and validation following guidance of software lead.
- Follow FDA Design Control procedures for software development; contribute to Hazard/Risk analysis and root-cause analysis of failures.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 7 years of related experience or Master's Degree with 4+ years of related experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong familiarity with development tools (IDEs, debuggers, unit test frameworks).
Nice to Have
- Experience with middleware frameworks, protocol stacks, or system-level software (e.g., USB/BLE/TCP-IP, file systems).
- Experience building end-to-end systems (firmware → middleware → application).
- Experience testing software.
- Knowledge of design controls and regulations for medical device development.
- Knowledge of quality software engineering lifecycle processes per ISO/IEEE or FDA standards.
- Experience with software development lifecycle processes.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay: $100,000–$200,000 per year. In some locations, pay range may vary from the listed range.
