Sr. Embedded Software Engineer 2

About the Role Volt is seeking a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer 2 in Carson, CA to contribute to the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of embedded software for innovative products. This 6-month full-time contract role emphasizes leadership, collaboration with hardware teams, and adherence to industry standards. What You'll Do

• Lead a team that architects, designs, develops, debugs, and maintains embedded software to provide innovative products and solutions to our customers.
• Evaluate and design industry standards and new technologies and help define and shape new products.
• Identify routine tasks and direct project teams; collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers on hardware design and implementation.
• Develop designs of embedded software from functional requirements; review design block diagrams, functional flows, and software models.
• Implement test applications to support software development, integration, and verification; review test reports.
• Understand and promote Safran P&Ps related to product development; operate under limited independence.
• Create Statements of Work and purchase requisitions for contractors and outsourcing; manage contractor tasks and global suppliers with minimal oversight. What We're Looking For
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 5 years of software engineering experience; 7+ years of embedded software design in a configuration and change-controlled design environment.
• High proficiency in the design of analog and digital circuits, power system electronics, electro-mechanical systems, and control systems.
• Experience in development of test equipment, product testing, error debugging, and root cause analysis.
• High proficiency in embedded software and firmware systems, micro-controllers, sensors, and human interfaces; strong C/C++ skills; scripting languages such as Python and VB Script.
• Effective oral and written communications; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; problem solving, organized, and able to drive issues to closure.
• Experience with aerospace design processes, standards, change control, configuration management, documentation, and flight safety requirements; familiarity with manufacturing and quality requirements.
• Knowledge of RTCA-DO-178B, MIL-STD-810; ability to read engineering drawings and maintenance manuals; proficiency with MS Office Suite. Nice to Have
• Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing methods and quality integration; demonstrated leadership of a technical group and experience coordinating with global suppliers. Compensation & Benefits
• Pay Range: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour DOE.
