About this role

Job title: Sr. Durability Evaluation Engineer

About the Role Lead and oversee full-vehicle durability testing at Hyundai's automotive proving ground, aligning test modes to North American environment and customer expectations. The role supports safety, customer satisfaction, warranty cost reduction, and brand image by developing and validating durability programs and countermeasures across Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and follow up on vehicle incidents reported by test drivers and technicians; classify follow-up levels and escalate important issues; investigate and drive issues to resolution.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders to establish and implement effective countermeasures and verify their effectiveness.
  • Conduct static and dynamic vehicle inspections on a periodic basis and document findings.
  • Monitor degradation of vehicle performance, handling, and NVH; quantify degradation using subjective scales or objective measurements.
  • Develop and refine inspection processes and metrics; apply market and engineering understanding to design, execute, and report research projects, field studies, and measurement programs for passenger vehicle durability in the Pan-American market.
  • Independently conceive, plan, and implement accelerated durability test modes based on gathered insights.
  • Consult on the development of full-vehicle durability test programs.
  • Plan and budget durability tests for vehicle projects from development through mass production and beyond; secure budget and engineering resources.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to secure budgets, test vehicles, and resources.
  • Conceive, design, and oversee construction of proving-ground test facilities; draft documentation for budget approvals; manage vendor bidding and oversee project execution.
  • Validate test surfaces analytically after completion and apply them to durability tests.
  • Coordinate and participate in inspections of used vehicles on-site and in the field.
  • Collect and report data representing real-world customer conditions; use survey data to inform accelerated, proving-ground test modes.
  • Monitor and track field durability issues from warranty claims, field service reports, customer surveys, and automotive press.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with full-vehicle durability testing and proving-ground operations.
  • Strong analytical skills to quantify degradation using subjective and objective methods.
  • Ability to plan, budget, and manage durability test programs from development through mass production.
  • Experience designing test facilities, durability surfaces, and coordinating vendor bidding and vendor management.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication with internal teams and global stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and apply market/engineering insights to guide research and test program development.
  • Familiarity with using real-world data such as warranty claims, field reports, and surveys to inform test modes.
