Job title: Sr. Director for Law Career Services
About the Role The Sr. Director for Law Career Services at Loyola University Chicago School of Law develops and leads the Career Services Office, setting a strategic vision and data-driven approach to maximize student placement. This role oversees office operations, supervises staff, and serves as the public face of CSO within the law school and the broader Chicago legal community.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement annual goals and strategies to maximize employment outcomes across diversified pipelines, and track recent graduate employment data, reporting to internal and external constituencies (ABA, U.S. News, NALP).
- Collaborate with the Director for Law Career Services and CSO team to deliver a robust career advising program for JD, LLM, and MJ students, including program development, student assessment, and coaching on interviews, networking, and salary negotiations.
- Ensure timely responses to inquiries from alumni, faculty, students, and employers; partner with Loyola departments to deliver programming; oversee outreach to employers (law firms, corporations, public interest, government, judiciary); maintain external presence and liaison with IL bench and bar.
- Manage Loyola’s interview programs, including OCI and Patent Law; coordinate with the Dean’s Office and Law School Business Manager on budgets, purchases, and service agreements, ensuring compliance with policies.
- Attend professional association meetings, engage alumni for employment or mentoring opportunities, and lead regular office staff meetings; report to the Associate Dean for Administration.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience in a university/college career services setting (or equivalent) with ability to develop strategy, lead a team, and align with ABA standards.
- Expertise in career advising, employer outreach, data collection/reporting, and program development; strong collaboration with students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and administration.
- Deep knowledge of the Chicago metro and national legal market and the ability to articulate market trends and opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and public-facing skills; strong judgment and ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Commitment to Loyola’s mission and Jesuit tradition, with ability to work fully in-person on Water Tower Campus.
