Job title: Sr. Automation Engineer
About the Role Reporting to the Operation Manager, the Sr. Automation Engineer will lead the design, development, implementation and optimization of automation systems to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual intervention, ensure system reliability, and support Littelfuse's business goals.
What You'll Do
- Design new automation machine/process concepts to set up automatic processes for new product and manufacturing requirements (20%).
- Modify or upgrade existing processes to meet new automation manufacturing needs (15%).
- Set up automation machine specifications after collaborating with internal customers to meet quality and cost requirements (10%).
- Conduct supplier capability reviews and confirm machine specifications (10%).
- Communicate with internal function teams and suppliers for machine design reviews (10%).
- Manage automation projects: establish timelines, monitor progress, and control to meet delivery dates (10%).
- Work with operations and finance teams to prepare financial justification documents for new automation equipment (10%).
- Support other cost reduction/quality improvement/efficiency initiatives (10%).
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the leader (5%).
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automation Engineering and 8+ years of experience in automation machine design or automation projects.
- Familiarity with automation standard parts; strong logic and failure diagnosis abilities.
- Proficiency in CAD/3D design software; PLC programming and vision system development experience preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office; basic knowledge of ISO 9000 / IATF16949; automotive experience is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Automotive industry experience and exposure (preferred).
