12 Month+ Contract | 1nd Shift | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM ET | Hybrid - 3 to 4 days on site; 1 to 2 days remote
Our client, a Global Medical Device Manufacturer, has an immediate opening for a Sr. Application Software Engineer for a 12 month+ contract. This is a 12-month contract opportunity with the potential to extend up to approximately 18 months. The position is hybrid in Weston, Florida and requires regular access to onsite systems and equipment. Candidates should expect to work onsite approximately 3-4 days per week, with greater onsite presence potentially required during the initial onboarding period or when project work requires direct system access. Fully remote candidates cannot be considered.
Our client is seeking a Staff Application Software Engineer to develop production-level application software for a complex, regulated technology platform in Weston, Florida. This is a senior hands-on development role focused on C++ application software running on a PC-based platform that interfaces with multiple hardware systems. The engineer will join an established Agile team and is expected to ramp up quickly within an existing architecture and codebase.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex application software using C++ and object-oriented programming principles.
- Quickly become productive within an established software architecture, codebase, development environment, and engineering workflow.
- Translate software requirements and architectural specifications into reliable, production-ready application components.
- Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle, including requirements review, design, implementation, unit testing, integration, defect resolution, and release activities.
- Apply established design patterns, coding standards, and software engineering practices within a mature application environment.
- Develop and maintain unit and component tests and participate in code reviews, static analysis, code coverage, and other software quality activities.
- Troubleshoot software defects, determine root causes, and implement solutions within a complex multi-system environment.
- Create required software design, test, and technical documentation in accordance with established development and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with software engineers, product owners, Scrum Masters, project teams, testers, and technical subject matter experts.
- Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning and other team ceremonies.
- Communicate development progress, technical decisions, dependencies, risks, and potential schedule impacts.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines and modern source control, build, testing, and defect-management tools.
Job Requirements
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline is required.

4+ years of professional software development experience, with approximately 5-10+ years strongly aligned with the Staff-level scope. More experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply.

Strong professional C++ development experience, including object-oriented programming in a production application environment.

Demonstrated application software development experience. Candidates whose background is primarily embedded software should also have substantial PC/application-level development experience.

Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, testing, and the full SDLC.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Qt/QML, Linux, and/or Docker.

Experience with CI/CD, source control, static or dynamic code analysis, unit testing, code coverage, and defect/requirements management tools.

Knowledge of linear algebra, computational geometry, 3D graphics, computer vision, image processing, or related technical areas.

Experience developing software for robotics, computer-assisted systems, medical technology, or similarly complex electromechanical products.

Previous software development experience within a regulated environment and/or a track record of ramping up quickly in contract or consulting assignments.
