Sr. Analyst, Retail Energy
What’s the role Shell is looking for a Sr. Analyst, Retail Energy (also known internally as Sr. Analyst, Load and Gross Margin Analytics) to join its team in Houston, TX. Shell seeks a motivated professional with a strong interest in the retail energy sector to become part of the Load and Gross Profit Analytics team, which plays a key role in the origination and realization of gross profit. This role reports positions for each cost component and explains changes in gross profit from origination to realization through customer additions and attrition, load and contract changes, and position and price movements. It ensures that trading counterparties fulfill their contractual obligations and provides feedback on the effectiveness of hedges and risk premiums. The role also ensures that costs are passed correctly to customers, and that pricing and billing processes are aligned with how each product is structured. Accountabilities: Monitor the accuracy of load forecasts and report position for each cost componentReport gross profit from origination to realization and explain all changesEnsure that the invoices we get from our trading counterparties are accurate, and we get what we pay forEnsure that our cost is passed-through correctly to customers based on their market and product configurationProvide feedback for the accuracy of the forward curves managed by Portfolio Management teamProvide feedback for the effectiveness of the hedges executed by and risk premiums set by Portfolio Management teamMonitor the accuracy of pricing and billing processesOther duties as assignedComply with company policies and proceduresWhat you bring Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employerMust have a Bachelor’s DegreeAt least 3 years of experience, preferably in Retail Energy Settlements, Gross Profit, Risk, and/or Pricing, with experience in ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, and/or CAISOStrong proficiency in SQL and Excel is requiredExperience with Python is a plusStrong analytical and problem-solving skills; must be able to provide timely and accurate data analysisStrong business writing skills and experience developing communication in various formatsLearner mindset and eye for continuous improvement needsExcellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to
