Job title: Sr. Advisor, Compliance Services
About the Role As a Sr. Advisor in Compliance Services, you will safeguard CarMax's operational integrity and regulatory compliance by supporting risk management and compliance program activities related to operational regulatory compliance with federal and state laws, industry frameworks, and internal policies. You will develop subject matter expertise, build relationships with risk owners and legal team members at all levels, and advise on process and control design across CarMax Auto Finance (CAF) and other high-risk areas, guiding the operationalization of regulatory requirements into controls. You will leverage your expertise to plan and lead testing efforts.
What You'll Do
- Partner with operational leaders and legal team to develop process and regulatory requirement subject matter expertise and advise on process/control design, gaps, and remediation.
- Plan and execute operational compliance testing and monitoring to identify risks, non-compliance, inconsistencies, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Develop risk coverage strategy and efficiencies for testing.
- Gather, review, and validate information and testing documentation that supports risk coverage, risk assessment, external examinations, and other reviews.
- Escalate issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with business leaders on remediation actions.
- Summarize findings for executive reporting.
- Support compliance training and communications in support of Compliance Program objectives.
- Ensure high-quality documentation, guidance, and reporting.
- Mentor junior advisors.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field; 4+ years of compliance or audit experience, or 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Detailed knowledge of risk assessments, internal controls, root cause analysis, and compliance principles.
- Ability to work independently, build relationships, and communicate clearly on complex issues while balancing multiple priorities.
Nice to Have
- CPA, CIA, or CISA certification.
- Experience with automated controls, IT general controls, and GRC tools.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $82,800.00 - $124,200.00 per year (USD). Bonus and equity may be eligible.
