Sr. Accounting Manager

About the Role Databricks is seeking a Sr. Accounting Manager to lead the global close across GL, cloud spend, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, cash, leases, and related balance sheet areas. This is a hands-on, player-coach role that manages a small team and reports to the Senior Director of Accounting. You will apply U.S. GAAP to complex matters, ensure an accurate, audit-ready close, and partner on a strategic SAP implementation.

What You'll Do

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close across key global accounting areas with strong control execution.
• Lead and develop a small team; set expectations, coach through the work, and raise the bar on ownership and quality.
• Drive AI and automation in core close areas using tools to automate manual calculations, improve accrual accuracy, accelerate reconciliations, and reduce close cycle times.
• Apply strong U.S. GAAP judgment to complex areas, including cloud infrastructure spend, vendor spend, accruals, capitalization, fixed assets, leases, cash, and related topics.
• Own balance sheet integrity for your areas: reconciliations, flux analysis, variance explanations, and period-over-period movements.
• Standardize and govern global accounting processes across entities and regions; partner with Finance Transformation to redesign processes and improve data quality.
• Strengthen SOX documentation, reconciliations, journal entries, and accrual support; support external auditors.
• Play a key Accounting role in the SAP implementation: process design, testing, data readiness, cutover, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Procurement, AP, and broader Finance teams to resolve issues at the source.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with close ownership across GL, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, cash, and leases.
• 2+ years of people management experience; ability to coach on technical accounting concepts.
• CPA, SOX experience, and Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong U.S. GAAP judgment; ability to reason through complex facts, identify risks, challenge assumptions.
• ERP experience; SAP preferred; SAP implementation experience a plus; familiarity with FloQast, Zip, Emburse a plus.
• Automation mindset with hands-on experience deploying or evaluating AI tools to improve close processes.
• Familiarity with data platforms like Databricks is a strong plus.
• Ownership mindset: high ownership, calm under pressure; fast-moving, direct communicator.
• Scale & agility experience; high-growth tech company experience preferred; public accounting background preferred.

• FloQast, Zip, Emburse familiarity; Databricks familiarity is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• Zone 1 Pay Range $199,700—$274,550 USD. Total compensation may include annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
