Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join our client in Pleasanton, California in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accountant who can independently manage critical close activities, reconcile key accounts, and deliver meaningful financial analysis in a fast-paced SaaS environment.

This is a hybrid position requiring three days onsite per week.

Responsibilities

• Oversee recurring accounting activities tied to reserves, prepaid items, and commission-related balances, ensuring entries are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

• Administer commission capitalization schedules, including initial setup, ongoing amortization, and adjustments related to customer changes or terminations.

• Review balance sheet and income statement movements each month, investigate notable variances, and communicate the business reasons behind fluctuations.

• Complete month-end reconciliations for assigned accounts and perform regular cash reconciliation work to maintain the integrity of financial records.

• Assist with sales tax administration by supporting registration efforts, validating exemption information, and reconciling related tax activity.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• 4–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with prior exposure to SaaS environments a plus.

• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and practical experience applying core accounting standards in day-to-day operations.

• Strong hands-on background in month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

• Advanced Excel capabilities and proficiency using NetSuite in an accounting setting.
