Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a construction and contractor-focused organization in Houston, Texas. This Long-term Contract position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, coordinating close activities, and helping ensure reliable reporting across multiple accounts and entities. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, a sharp eye for reconciliations, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced accounting environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee full-cycle accounting activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and supported by proper documentation.

• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger across assigned accounts.

• Lead month-end close tasks, including account analysis, deadline management, and resolution of outstanding variances.

• Perform intercompany accounting functions and reconcile related balances to confirm accuracy between entities.

• Manage accounts payable check run processes and help maintain timely, controlled disbursement activities.

• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for internal review and external reporting needs.

• Complete detailed account, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations, researching discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.

• Partner with audit stakeholders by organizing requested documentation and assisting with both internal and external audit support.

• Demonstrated experience in senior-level accounting roles with responsibility for full-cycle accounting.

• Strong working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and month-end close procedures.

• Hands-on experience with account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

• Ability to prepare accurate financial statements and analyze supporting accounting data.

• Familiarity with intercompany transactions and reconciliation of related accounts.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting tasks.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple accounting deadlines effectively.
