Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in Oakland, California. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can manage close activities, maintain ledger accuracy, and deliver reliable financial reporting in a fast-paced environment. The position will work across essential accounting processes and may be especially well suited to candidates who can collaborate effectively with teams operating on Central Time.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly closing activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and helping ensure deadlines are met accurately.

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through detailed analysis, ongoing monitoring, and timely corrections where needed.

• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support and a strong focus on accounting accuracy.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a recurring basis and investigate variances to resolution.

• Perform bank reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and coordinate follow-up actions to keep cash records aligned.

• Support accounting operations within SAP S/4HANA, including transaction review and financial data validation.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information, clarify account activity, and improve the consistency of financial records.

• Proven experience serving in a senior-level accounting role with responsibility for core close activities.

• Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger management, and journal entry preparation.

• Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations and resolving reconciling items independently.

• Background in bank reconciliation processes with careful attention to detail and accuracy.

• Practical experience using SAP S/4HANA in an accounting environment.

• Ability to manage priorities effectively in a deadline-driven setting.

• Availability to work successfully with teams aligned to Central Time is preferred.
