About the Role
Sonder is seeking a Sr. Accountant for International Accounting to manage monthly close activities, intercompany journal entries, reconciliations, and foreign exchange analysis across international entities. You will partner with Corporate Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and IT to ensure accurate financial reporting and IFRS/US GAAP compliance, including lease accounting across multiple jurisdictions.
What You'll Do
- Perform monthly accounting close activities, including intercompany journal entries and reconciliations of intercompany balance sheet accounts, and analysis of foreign exchange gains and losses
- Improve and manage international accounting processes and controls
- Review intercompany agreements and collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and IT
- Partner with EMEA statutory accounting firms to produce financial statements
- Support external audits in EMEA
- Assist International Accounting Manager with special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 4+ years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in a month-end close role
- Public accounting experience with commercial real estate or hospitality industry (International) experience preferred
- Experience supporting an audit of a publicly held company
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, specifically lease accounting and foreign currency transactions and translations
- Experience in a dynamic, global environment is a plus
- Prior experience with large ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP)
- Advanced Excel; excellent time management, prioritization and multitasking abilities
- Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
