Job title: Sprinkler Service/Inspection Fitter
About the Role Johnson Controls is seeking a Sprinkler Service/Inspection Fitter to inspect, service, and repair sprinkler-based systems (wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge). The role involves traveling to customer sites, performing work safely and professionally, and providing guidance to apprentices; a company vehicle, tools, and equipment are provided.
What You'll Do
- Efficiently and neatly perform work on wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
- Inspect, service, and complete repairs on sprinkler-based systems; handle service calls.
- Read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and operation/product manuals.
- Maintain proper documentation for work performed and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Provide verbal and written instructions to apprentices.
- Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs; perform physical labor.
- Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
- Exhibit effective customer service by communicating with branch staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area; adapt quickly with a positive attitude.
- Be willing to travel and work alternative shifts or weekends; participate in on-call rotation; company vehicle, tools, and equipment provided.
What We're Looking For
- Sprinkler Fitter Red Seal Certification.
- Backflow Certification.
- 5+ years of experience in Fire Sprinkler/Suppression.
- Experience reading blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying/moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Able to work in unusual/difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, including work in ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
- Flexible hours including weekends; able to participate in an on-call rotation; overnight travel will be required.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
- Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude.
