About the Role The GCC department is seeking to fill a Sponsored Research Accountant 2 position to manage the financial aspects of research grants and sponsored projects while ensuring compliance with university policies, sponsor regulations, and GAAP. It will serve as the key liaison between Principal Investigators and research administrators on post-award financial matters including salary reallocations and effort certification. What You'll Do
- Review and approve salary cost transfer requests and the associated personnel change documentation.
- Oversee labor verification processes, manage required employee training, issue notifications for overdue labor verification statements, and research and resolve issues affecting verification schedules and system or process errors that prevent statements from being generated or distributed.
- Administer grant awards (federal, state, local, private and internal grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements) from a myriad of funding agencies.
- Establish and maintain grant records and files ensuring their accuracy and completeness. Close out grant accounts by reconciling accounts, sampling unusual transactions for compliance, prepare final invoice and/or reports and ensure non-financial reports are submitted. What We're Looking For
- Experience managing post-award financial activities for research grants, ensuring compliance with sponsor regulations and GAAP.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to liaison between Principal Investigators and research staff.
- Knowledge of salary cost transfers, labor verification, effort certification, and grant closeout processes; familiarity with multiple funding sources (federal, state, local, private, internal).
- Ability to navigate administrative systems and respond to compliance issues in a timely manner. Nice to Have
