About our company
WHY JOIN THE JSE? The JSE recognises that its success and strength depend on the quality of its employees. We are committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and high standards of performance. Our employee wellness programme is designed to encourage work-life balance for employees. We naturally seek to empower staff and encourage diversity and opportunities for all.
Introduction
To provide research, data analysis, market intelligence and client-intelligence support to the Primary Markets asset-class heads. The role’s primary day-to-day focus is to support the Equity Origination Manager and Head of Origination and Deals, while also providing support to Fixed Income and Specialist Securities asset-class heads. The role assists with the development and execution of the broader Primary Markets client engagement strategy by preparing client intelligence, identifying engagement themes, supporting target-client prioritisation, developing meeting preparation materials and tracking agreed origination actions across asset classes. The asset-class heads lead their respective businesses and retain accountability for strategy, budgets, revenue, forecasts, client relationships, product priorities, pipelines and commercial decisions. The role supports these accountabilities by gathering and validating data, analysing business and market drivers, preparing research and decision-support material, maintaining reporting, and providing client and market insights. The role is accountable for the quality, accuracy and timely delivery of assigned support outputs. It does not independently set asset-class strategy, own clients, commit the JSE commercially, approve forecasts or determine product and pipeline priorities.
Job description
Support sustained, high-quality earnings through research, data analysis and decision support
· Deliver recurring and ad hoc research, data analysis and market-intelligence outputs based on priorities set by the Equity Origination Manager and relevant Primary Markets asset-class heads.
· Assist with input into the analysis of internal and external data relating to revenue drivers, issuance activity, pipeline movement, client trends, market conditions and performance variances.
· Prepare decision-support dashboards, reports, fact sheets, presentations and briefing notes for review by the accountable manager or asset-class head.
· Assist and support PM asset class heads with benchmark relevant exchanges, markets, products and issuer trends and highlight evidence-based observations for management consideration.
· Maintain clear data definitions, source records and quality checks for assigned reporting outputs.
Protect and grow core business by supporting Primary Markets client engagement, origination activity and cross-team deliverables
· Provide research, client-intelligence, coordination and meeting-preparation support to the Equity Origination Manager and broader Primary Markets team.
· Assist with Primary Markets client engagement and origination activities by preparing target-client lists, engagement plans, client profiles, sector insights, market updates and proposed discussion themes for review by the relevant relationship owner.
· Prepare client briefs, presentations, meeting packs, management information, initiative trackers and approved follow-up material to support engagements and strategic initiatives led by the relevant asset-class head or relationship owner.
· Support cross-asset origination and delivery by identifying potential opportunities, consolidating inputs, tracking agreed actions and preparing information for review and decision-making.
· Support meetings, events and cross-functional initiatives through preparation, coordination, records, action tracking and follow-up support, without assuming ownership of the client relationship or commercial outcome.
Transform the business through improved Primary Markets reporting and business support
· Prepare and coordinate assigned Primary Markets reporting, including fact sheets, newsletters, management packs, dashboards and action registers.
· Support budget, revenue and forecast reviews by gathering data, reconciling inputs, analysing movements and preparing supporting commentary for approval by the relevant head.
· Manage assigned delivery plans, dependencies, version control and deadlines; escalate data gaps or risks early.
· Apply JSE policies, approval requirements, confidentiality standards and data controls.
JSE values, collaboration and continuous improvement
· Live the JSE values and demonstrate integrity, accountability, respect and professional conduct.
· Work collaboratively with asset-class heads and enabling teams while respecting decision rights and relationship ownership.
· Improve assigned research, reporting and client-intelligence processes through practical automation, templates and data-quality controls.
· Maintain relevant technical knowledge and address agreed development needs.
· Exercise judgement within delegated authority and escalate material, novel or high-risk matters.
