Dow has an exciting opportunity as a Sourcing Manager in Ocean Transportation located in São Paulo - SP (Brazil).
The Sourcing Manager is an integral role within Dow’s Integrated Supply Chain and Procurement organization. This professional contracts and integrates global logistics services within Dow’s operating segments to support profit maximization and reduction of 3rd party expenses. Requires an analytical mindset to evaluate market indicators, generate contractual language, negotiate with service providers, and manage service provider performance.
Successful individual creates value for Dow by defining sourcing opportunities, developing and aligning sourcing strategies, leveraging supplier relationships, analyzing market conditions, and negotiating with suppliers and internal partners to optimize sustained value for Dow. Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of the discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
In this role, you will require in-depth conceptual and working knowledge of your discipline or functional area. You will need to understand your discipline's best practices and how they relate to others. You may need to lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements as well as serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. You should also be able to explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus with others.
Have the responsibility to analyze and resolve complex problems, examine information from multiple sources, and use judgement to evaluate established and new solutions. Your performance impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within your own team and other related teams and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities
- Source and manage a portfolio of international trade logistics services to improve Dow's cost position and supply security in the market through application of the strategic sourcing process.
- Provide input to the global logistics buying strategy for international trade logistics (dry box, ISO, Flexi, dray, air freight, freight forwarding and customs, small parcel). Implement the purchasing strategy in Latin America and support global activities.
- Utilize business acumen and analytics to drive value from the market and influence stakeholders.
- Acts as a change agent to transform the strategic sourcing organization.
- Prepares market intelligence report and insights for internal constituents.
- Responsible for the negotiation, execution and implementation of commercial agreements and related work processes in accordance with the strategies within the commercial area and/or geography.
- Provide coaching and guidance to other sourcing team members.
- May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives locally or globally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10 years of relevant working experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain.
- Fluent English skills.
- Preferred: 5 years in ocean shipping industry.

- Supply Chain Planning: Demonstrate the ability to strategically manage the flow of goods, information, and resources across the supply chain to meet customer demand efficiently
- Marine Transportation: Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the planning, coordination, and execution of cargo and freight movement via sea routes
- Drayage Transportation: Demonstrate expertise in managing the short-distance movement of cargo, typically between ports, rail terminals, and warehouses.
- AI Tools: Ability to work with Copilot Agent for design and deployment.
- Statistical analysis: Proficient in applying statistical methods to analyze data assess and make data-driven decisions.
