About this role
About the role
We are looking for a Solutions Architect to own the high-level design of our backend platform. You will turn product requirements into clear system designs, decide how services fit together, and guide engineering teams through implementation. This is a hands-on role: you will review designs and code, and step in where the architecture needs it.
What you will do
-
Produce high-level designs for new features and services, covering service boundaries, data flow, APIs, storage choices and integration points.
-
Review low-level designs and pull requests from engineering teams to keep them aligned with the agreed architecture.
-
Evaluate trade-offs (cost, latency, scalability, reliability, security) and document decisions in architecture decision records.
-
Design integrations with third-party systems such as ATS platforms, calendar and video providers, and AI/ML services.
-
Define standards for service communication, error handling, observability, caching and data modeling.
-
Identify technical debt and scaling risks early, and propose practical migration paths.
-
Work with product, engineering and DevOps to estimate effort and sequence delivery.
-
Mentor engineers on design thinking and system design practices.
What we are looking for
-
8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an architect or senior technical lead role.
-
Strong experience designing distributed, service-oriented or microservice systems in production.
-
Solid backend knowledge in Java/Spring Boot (or a comparable stack), plus relational and NoSQL databases, caching and message queues.
-
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred): compute, storage, networking, IAM, and cost management.
-
Good understanding of API design (REST, webhooks, async/event-driven patterns), authentication and authorization.
-
Experience with CI/CD, containerization, monitoring and incident response.
-
Ability to communicate designs clearly through diagrams and written documents, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
-
Sound judgment on when to keep things simple and when to invest in structure.
Nice to have
-
Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
-
Exposure to AI/LLM-based systems, real-time audio/video, or data pipelines.
-
Experience in HR tech, recruiting or workflow-heavy products.
-
Background in security and compliance (SOC 2, GDPR).
Why join us
-
Direct influence on core architecture while the platform is still taking shape.
-
Close collaboration with engineering and product leadership.
-
A role where designs are built and shipped, not left on a slide.
