About this role

Job title: Solutions Architect

Location: Costa Mesa, California (Remote)

Role Overview

The mission is to own the technical solution end-to-end. This involves deciding where trust is enforced in each ecosystem, writing architecture decision records, designing demos, and serving as the technical representative to merchants and partners. This is a 6-month contract role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce the hook-point inventory and runtime comparison for a partner's blueprint (Messages API vs Agent SDK vs Managed Agents) and author two ADRs for the primary runtime target and integration architecture.

  • Design the reference integration, including session-start identity binding, backend-level decisioning, and the gateway verifier for hosted agents, ensuring no changes to merchant prompt bytes or gate code.

  • Design loyalty-without-login on UCP and on a protocol-agnostic header/middleware rail.

  • Shape the Verifiable Credential POC, defining the issuer, holder wallet, presentation flow, merchant verifier, and its privacy properties.

  • Write the threat model for each integration, create merchant integration guides, develop demo runbooks with fallbacks, and run the demos.

  • Own deliverables such as ADRs, hook-point inventory, threat models, reference architecture diagrams, integration guides, demo runbooks, and partner technical briefings.

  • Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years in solutions or software architecture with hands-on code experience, including recent production work on LLM agent systems with tool use.

  • Working knowledge of a major AI platform (Messages API tool use, prompt caching, Agent SDK, Managed Agents) and the Model Context Protocol, including authenticated MCP servers.

  • Experience with identity and payments architecture: OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, JWT/JWKS, HTTP message signatures, and PCI-adjacent checkout flows. Familiarity with agentic-commerce protocols and KYA concepts is required.

  • Experience with threat-modelling and privacy-by-design, with the ability to write ADRs and sequence diagrams for technical and partner audiences.

  • Consulting-grade communication skills, with experience leading technical working sessions with external engineering teams.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Verifiable Credentials (W3C VC 2.0, OID4VCI/OID4VP, SD-JWT or BBS+).

  • Experience with fraud/risk decisioning platforms.

  • Knowledge of CDN/edge architectures (e.g., Cloudflare Workers).

  • Prior experience in a forward-deployed or FDE role.
