Job title: Software Engineer
About the Role
TomTom describes its hiring process for technical roles, including software engineering. The process outlines steps from application to onboarding and highlights the Leadership Foundation that guides behavior and values.
What You'll Do
-
Your application: We’ll review your application to understand your background and see how it aligns with what we’re building at TomTom.
-
First call: If your profile looks like a match, one of our recruiters will reach out. We’ll talk about your experience, motivations and expectations, and answer any initial questions you might have.
-
Optional technical assessment: Depending on the role, you might receive a short online coding task. It’s a chance to showcase how you think and code, and it helps us understand your technical baseline before the interviews.
-
Technical interview: You’ll have a one-hour chat with an engineer or hiring manager. We’ll look at your technical and problem-solving skills, exploring how you structure your code and think through real-world scenarios.
-
Interview loop: You’ll have 3–4 interviews, each with a different interviewer. We’ll cover topics from system design to leadership traits. It’s also an opportunity for you to get to know us better.
-
The final decision: Interviews went well? Excited about your new challenge and ready to get started? We’ll share our decision with you, and if all’s well, it’s all systems go – welcome to the team! We’ll start your onboarding.
