About the Role As a Software Engineer at Thomson Reuters Special Services (TRSS), you will contribute to the full stack of TRSS solutions, delivering global data through advanced search, big data ingestion, and analytical processing using MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Kafka, along with leading-edge web applications. The role requires a polyglot engineer comfortable with data-intensive systems and some frontend UI development, working closely with TRSS analysts to capture requirements and design solutions. You will own your work, may lead projects, mentor others, and contribute to software solutions and data science efforts across the team. What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and deliver software solutions and data science efforts across the TRSS stack.
- Turn ideas into technical solutions with minimal direction.
- May lead projects or efforts and mentor less experienced developers.
- Engage TRSS analytical staff to gather requirements, generate ideas, and develop documentation.
- Demo new software solutions and expand your skill set on the job.
- Work across backend and frontend components with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Kafka; build and enhance web applications.
- Own your work and be passionate about customer success. What We're Looking For
- B.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or relevant experience (equivalent considered)
- 3-10 years of professional software development experience
- Strong engineering and problem-solving skills; ability to mentor or lead small projects or teams
- Development experience with backend: Python, Java, Spring Boot
- Databases: MongoDB, MySQL
- DevOps: Docker, Jenkins, Git, Maven
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. national security clearance; U.S. citizenship essential to comply with government contracts/agency requirements
- Strong personal work ethic and excellent communication skills Nice to Have
- Experience with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Kafka in production environments
- Experience with big data ingestion, search, and analytics
