Meta is seeking experienced engineers to join our Central Growth team, the org responsible for maximizing user growth across every Meta app and device. We were one of Meta's first growth teams and have helped more than 3 billion people find value in Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, Meta AI and our wearables. We build and optimize the centralized levers the entire company depends on (access and identity, notifications, friending, cross-app linking, onboarding, SEO, and global distribution partnerships), and we own the platforms that unify the family of apps under a single Meta Account. The work is high-leverage by construction: a single change can move the trajectory of a billion-user product, and increasingly we are building AI-native systems so growth scales out-of-the-box to every new product Meta launches. Software Engineer (Technical Leadership) - Central Growth

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the multi-year technical vision and architecture for large-scale product systems, ensuring designs are reliable, extensible, and capable of evolving with business needs
• Identify and solve the most complex, cross-cutting engineering problems across multiple systems and abstraction layers, including issues that span organizational boundaries
• Establish extensible technical foundations, coding standards, and architectural patterns that improve consistency and delivery velocity across engineering organizations
• Lead cross-functional execution of org-wide technical initiatives, aligning stakeholders, managing dependencies, and driving outcomes against defined milestones and metrics
• Develop and operationalize engineering excellence programs including reliability standards, performance guardrails, and quality frameworks adopted across teams
• Deeply understand privacy, security, and integrity vulnerabilities relevant to product systems and build robust technical safeguards in partnership with compliance and policy teams
• Mentor engineers across the organization by providing candid feedback, customized coaching, and technical guidance on the most challenging system and feature design problems
• Communicate complex technical strategies and trade-offs clearly to audiences ranging from individual contributors to executive leadership, producing artifacts used as long-term references
• Identify systemic issues and recurring failure patterns across the organization, developing invariants and architectural improvements that prevent entire classes of problems
• Recruit and develop engineers with skills critical to the team's success, role-modeling technical and cultural standards that strengthen the broader engineering community

Minimum Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience with building large-scale applications, or similar experience
• 12+ years of programming experience
• 8+ years of experience with web or mobile technologies
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience communicating and working across functions to drive solutions
• Experience in driving large cross-functional/industry-wide engineering efforts
• Experience in mentoring/influencing engineers across organizations
• Experience leading projects with industry-wide impact
• Proven track record of planning multi-year roadmap in which shorter-term projects ladder to the long-term vision

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience partnering with legal, policy, or compliance teams to design technical solutions that address privacy, security, or integrity requirements at scale
• Track record of identifying and delivering step-change improvements to product systems through architectural rethinking or ground-up rebuilds
• Experience defining and operationalizing reliability, performance, or quality frameworks adopted at an organizational or company-wide scale
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI-assisted development practices and agent-based workflows to drive measurable engineering productivity improvements

United States of America: $271,000/year to $347,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
