About the Role We are seeking a seasoned Software Engineer to join Synopsys' Mississauga-based R&D team focused on silicon validation. The role blends hardware and software to build automation, enable validation workflows, and mentor others, with a strong emphasis on accelerating time-to-market through scalable tooling.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain software tools, automation frameworks, and scripts to support silicon validation, characterization, and debug workflows.
  • Drive the development of automated test flows, data processing pipelines, and reporting solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, systems, firmware, and software) to debug and resolve complex silicon issues.
  • Analyze silicon behavior using a combination of lab measurements and software-driven data analysis.
  • Enable and optimize instrument control, data acquisition, and validation workflows through software.
  • Debug issues across the hardware–software interface, including silicon bring-up, system-level validation, and instrumentation interaction.
  • Enhance existing tools and frameworks to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Document, design, develop, and test software solutions supporting validation infrastructure.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in software development and validation methodologies.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development and silicon validation environments.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages for automation and data analysis.
  • Experience developing automation frameworks, validation tools, or scripting solutions.
  • Solid understanding of post-silicon validation, system bring-up, or hardware debug workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with lab environments and instrumentation is highly desirable.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across software and hardware domains.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Nice to Have
