About the Role Canonical is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to Python/Golang-based services on Kubernetes in a remote, Americas-based role. You will help build and operate cloud-native software within Canonical's open source ecosystem and Ubuntu platform.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain software components using Python and Go, with a focus on reliability and performance.
- Design, deploy, and operate containerized services on Kubernetes in cloud environments.
- Collaborate with distributed teams across Canonical to deliver high-quality open source software for Ubuntu and related platforms.
- Improve tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring to support scalable deployments.
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and Golang.
- Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and container-based deployments.
- Familiarity with Linux/Ubuntu environments and open source development.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a remote, cross-functional team.
Nice to Have
- Experience contributing to open source projects.
- Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native tooling.
- Understanding of data science/AI/IoT use cases in enterprise contexts.
