Job Summary
We are hiring Software Engineers to be involved in development & design of the features for NetApp’s flagship storage operating system ONTAP.
ONTAP is a feature rich stack with its rich data management capabilities that has tremendous value to our customers and are used in mission critical applications across the world. You will work as part of a team responsible for the development, testing and debugging of distributed software that drives NetApp cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premises solutions. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, supportability, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development. This is an early in career technical position that requires an individual to be systems-focused, creative, team-oriented, technologically savvy, able to work in a small and large cross-functional teams, willing to learn and driven to produce results.
Job Requirements
- Strong foundation in system software design and development.
- Hands-on programming experience in C, C++, and Python.
- Deep understanding of Unix/Linux systems programming and multithreaded application development.
- Solid knowledge of operating system internals and related concepts.
- Experience in the Storage domain and Distributed Systems is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to software engineering best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality solutions within aggressive timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse technical and business stakeholders.
- Understanding of customer deployment environments and experience collaborating with teams beyond engineering.
- Self-driven, motivated, and adaptable individual with strong ownership, independence, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
- Contribute as a key member of the engineering team in developing new features, sustaining existing functionality, and addressing engineering escalations.
- Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, debugging, testing, and customer support.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as QA, System Test Engineering, and other engineering groups to understand customer requirements, deliver high-quality solutions, and incorporate valuable feedback into product development.
- Work effectively with fellow engineers to troubleshoot, analyse, and resolve complex technical challenges.
Education

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 4-8 years of experience, or a Master’s Degree; or equivalent experience is required.
