About the Role The role is to join Canonical as Software Engineer - L3 Support, working in a dynamic and exciting engineering position focused on Linux-based infrastructure and applications across all layers of the stack, including bare metal, virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), and storage (Ceph and Linux).
What You'll Do
- Work across the Linux-based infrastructure and applications stack, from bare metal through virtualization, containers, and storage.
- Provide L3 technical support, diagnose and resolve complex production issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve reliability and performance.
- Develop, maintain, and extend tooling and infrastructure components to support scalable operations.
What We're Looking For
- Experience with Linux-based infrastructure and applications.
- Knowledge of virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), and storage systems (Ceph).
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills; ability to work across multiple layers of the stack.
- Effective communication and collaboration in distributed teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with bare metal provisioning and advanced Linux storage solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and open-source software ecosystems.
