About the Role Join Scotiabank's Global Wealth Management Technology (GWMT) team as a Software Engineer - Java. You will design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack applications across the front-end, back-end, infrastructure, and data layers, collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions. This role emphasizes architecture, standards, mentorship, and driving strategic technology transformation within GWMT. What You'll Do
- Lead the design and architecture of complex, distributed full-stack systems, utilizing modern technologies to improve production support, reduce operational costs, and improve security, availability, and reliability of overall business systems.
- Set technical standards and best practices across teams; provide mentorship to senior and junior engineers.
- Drive strategy to transform current platforms using new technologies and tools available that best support the business needs.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Promote a customer-focused, high-performing culture and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
- Communicate effectively with business and technology leadership to gain consensus and promote ideas. What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of experience developing enterprise, cloud-native, message-driven, test-driven, reactive, containerized applications.
- Previous exposure to the banking industry/financial services is preferred.
- MS Azure, Kubernetes, Java 8, Spring Boot, JUnit frameworks, Maven, Gradle, NoSQL database, Docker, Velocity, CI/CD pipelines, and version control tools like Git, SVN, Bitbucket.
- Well-rounded knowledge of Agile principles and the flexibility to adapt to new and evolving environments.
- Familiarity with software security tools like BlackDuck, Fortify, and SonarQube.
