Opportunity Overview
The Software Engineer II joins Teradyne’s Software Engineering team in North Reading to develop high-quality software for the company’s family of Automatic Test Equipment. This position translates customer requirements into scalable, high-performance solutions within the existing software architecture. The role works across requirements definition, design, development, testing, troubleshooting, release, and maintenance in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Develop, test, and deploy software components for Teradyne’s family of Automatic Test Equipment.
- Build robust, scalable, high-performance, and maintainable software solutions.
- Collaborate with team members to review deliverables, exchange feedback, and improve products and processes.
- Partner with software verification engineers to define, document, and execute effective test strategies and plans.
- Support smooth transitions to Software Qualification and Sustaining teams by thoroughly documenting software changes.
- Drive innovative solutions to complex technical problems while balancing customer requirements and the existing software architecture.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 2–5 years of experience developing software systems for commercial applications.
- Experience with C++, C#, and .NET development.
- Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with development tools such as Visual Studio and ClearCase or Git.
- Experience working within software development lifecycles, including Agile.
- Ability to communicate ideas and technical concepts clearly in writing and verbally.
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Relevant internship or practical software development experience is preferred.
This role offers hybrid flexibility; however, candidates must be able to work on-site at the North Reading office.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $100,100 - $160,100. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
