About the Role Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC seeks a Software Engineer II in San Mateo, CA to develop and maintain high-quality applications and services, ensuring they are production-ready and meet performance standards. This role contributes to the PlayStation ecosystem by delivering reliable software across frontend and backend components.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain high-quality applications and services that are production-ready and meet performance standards.
- Collaborate with teams using Git for creating, reviewing, and merging pull requests; participate in code reviews.
- Implement front-end performance optimization techniques including lazy loading and caching; write responsive CSS with WCAG accessibility standards.
- Build and integrate frontend components with backend services using GraphQL; develop backend components and server logic with Node.js; handle middleware and API integrations.
- Use Docker to build, deploy, and manage containerized applications in development and integration environments.
- Participate in Agile software development methodologies (sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, iterative releases) and refine technical requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent; 2 years of experience developing client-side applications using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Redux.
- Proficiency with Git, including creating, reviewing, and merging pull requests.
- Experience with front-end performance optimization (lazy loading, caching) and maintaining responsive UI.
- Strong understanding of JavaScript best practices; writing maintainable, testable, and efficient code across web and mobile platforms.
- Experience with WCAG-compliant accessible CSS and cross-device responsive design.
- Experience with GraphQL to integrate frontend components with middleware and backend services.
- Backend development experience with Node.js; API integration and middleware logic.
- Docker for building, deploying, and managing containerized applications.
