About the Role
Sony Interactive Entertainment seeks a Software Engineer II - Kernel Security to help build and maintain kernel-level security features for PlayStation systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security improvements, debug complex kernel security issues, and guide security threat analysis, including contributions to open-source kernel projects. The role emphasizes high-quality code through testing and reviews.
What You'll Do
- Build, develop, and maintain kernel security features for PlayStation systems.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to successfully implement security improvements.
- Debug and resolve sophisticated security issues within the kernel.
- Supervise and analyze security threats to determine the best course of action.
- Assist with open-source projects associated with kernel security.
- Maintain code quality through meticulous testing and code reviews.
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in C programming languages; other programming language like C++ is a plus.
- Experience with kernel development; FreeBSD knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge in kernel security concepts and practices.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub.
- Excellent debugging skills and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work autonomously and within a cooperative group.
Nice to Have
- Advanced knowledge of operating systems and low-level programming.
- Experience contributing to widely recognized open-source projects.
- Effective communication abilities and the capability to clearly explain intricate technical ideas.
- A strong passion for gaming and knowledge of the gaming industry.
