Job title: Software Engineer
About the Role As a Software Engineer in JR Automation’s Digital Solutions Group, you will design and implement software for industrial automation and data systems integration, primarily supporting Inductive Automation’s Ignition-based applications to meet Industry 4.0 demands. The team supports software needs across JR Divisions, collaborating with top automation professionals. This is a remote role with occasional travel to JR Automation or customer facilities (less than 20%).
What You'll Do
- Develop applications using Inductive Automation’s Ignition software, ranging from basic HMIs to backend-heavy data handling and MES solutions.
- Design and implement non-Ignition based software solutions for industrial automation, data systems integration, IIoT, and automated test system projects. This includes application development in .Net, interface/driver development in various languages, embedded system development, database development, and highly specialized test system development.
- Engage in high-end vision system development and development of internal tools (e.g., specialized CASE tools used by robot and PLC programmers).
- Travel domestically and internationally (as needed), and collaborate with JR Divisions and customers to deliver automation solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Four-year degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline, or a two-year degree with significantly applicable experience.
- 3+ years of experience developing Ignition applications.
- Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally.
- Other desirable skills: .NET programming (Desktop/Web apps, database interfaces); Database design and SQL programming (SQL Server, etc.); Machine Learning / AI; Machine Vision (Halcon, Cognex VisionPro, Keyence, Matrox MIL, NI, etc.); LabVIEW; Lab/Test Automation (National Instruments); HMI/SCADA programming (FTView ME/SE, WinCC, Aveva, etc.).
Nice to Have
- Additional qualifications in .NET, SQL, ML/AI, Machine Vision, LabVIEW, and HMI/SCADA programming as listed in the job description.
