Job title: Software Engineer

About the Role The Software Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable SmartCop applications that support public safety operations. You will contribute to the delivery, ongoing maintenance, and enhancement of SmartCOP systems, using AI-assisted development tools when appropriate to improve productivity, code quality, and testing practices.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to plan and implement software in C#/.NET within a multi-tier architecture.
  • Develop, test, and maintain applications using .NET, MS SQL Server, and service-oriented/web services.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve coding efficiency and testing quality.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team ceremonies; work during North American Central Time business hours.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues; provide performance improvements.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability; write automated tests; adhere to team standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Proficiency with C#, object-oriented design, and modern application frameworks (.NET).
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to support code development, testing, and quality-focused practices.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server, T-SQL, and stored procedures.
  • Experience in n-tier web-based architecture / service-oriented architecture; familiarity with web services.
  • Exposure to automated testing practices and quality-focused development.
  • BS in Computer Science or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to collaborate and participate in meetings during regular North American Central Time zone business hours.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the USA and United States-based.
  • Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of applicable government background checks.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in n-tier / service-oriented architecture and design is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 USD per year.
